This square in Ariogala traces back to the 16th century, when taverns and beer and mead production flourished there; the town gained Magdeburg city rights in 1792. Once known as Turgaus aikštė (Market Square) and lined before the Second World War with synagogues, taverns and shops, it was redeveloped during the Soviet period. A 2018 renovation added a fountain, and the square was renamed for Tadas Daugirdas in 2021, with a sculpture honoring him added in 2024.
