Gaiļu kalns is a tiny 2-hectare nature reserve near Rēzekne, established in 1987 to protect a rare stand of large common (Swedish-form) junipers on a hillside. It is a Natura 2000 site where rangers periodically clear encroaching trees and shrubs to keep the juniper habitat from being shaded out.
