Dzukijos nacionalinis park

Grybavimo vieta, Dzūkija

Dzūkija National Park is Lithuania's largest protected area (58,519 hectares), established in 1991 in southern Lithuania to protect the region richest in natural and cultural heritage in Dzūkija; its directorate is based in Merkinė. Since 2011, together with the neighboring Čepkeliai State Nature Reserve (Lithuania's largest raised bog, 11,212 hectares), it has been part of the PAN Parks network - the only site of its kind in Lithuania - recognizing Europe's most valuable wilderness areas. The park keeps alive old Dzūkija village traditions, especially berry- and mushroom-picking.
