Uogintų ąžuolas

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

This protected natural-monument oak in Uogintai village is about 200 years old, 25 meters tall, with a trunk circumference of 4.26 meters and a diameter of 1.34 meters. In 1486, Grand Duke Aleksandras gave the Uogintai manor to Dmitrijus Hlušonskis, grandson of the Duke of Smolensk; the Oginski family name is said to derive from this place-name, and the family later acquired several estates in the Kaišiadorys region. The former Uogintai manor house stood across the road from the tree.
