Karklės kopos

Kempingas, Klaipėdos apskritis

The dunes at Karklė form part of the coastal dune belt protected within Pajūrio Regional Park, in the ethnographic fishing village of Karklė on the Baltic coast north of Klaipėda. The sandy dunes here support an unusual mix of sand-loving plant species, some of which are rare and protected at the European level, alongside pine forest and coastal meadows that make the stretch valuable for both conservation and recreation. Just south of the village, the wave-eroded clay headland known as Olando kepurė rises about 24 meters above sea level, a parabolic moraine dune shaped by the retreating glacier and still being worn back by the sea.
