Lašinių hillfort

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

This hillfort rises 20 to 30 meters above the right bank of the Strėva River near Lašiniai village in the Kaišiadorys district. Its platform measures 34 by 18 meters and is bordered by a rampart 5.5 meters high and an outer ditch up to 3 meters deep, with occupation dated from the early second millennium BC to the 14th century. Chronicles link the site to Strėva Castle, burned by the Teutonic Order’s crusaders in 1367, and it was formally declared a cultural monument in 1998; locals also know it as Napoleon’s Hill or Devil’s Hill.
