Raganu bog

Graži vieta, Kurzeme

Known locally as Latvia’s Witches’ Bog, Raganu purvs lies between the villages of Antiņciems and Ķemeri in Lapmežciems parish, within Ķemeri National Park. A wooden boardwalk trail, the Sēra dīķu laipa (Sulphur Ponds Trail), crosses the raised bog to reach a cluster of sulphur-fed ponds whose water turns yellow in spring as sulphur bacteria multiply. The route is built entirely on boardwalks suitable for a stroller, and visitors are asked to stay on the walkway rather than approach the ponds directly.
