Ventės ragas

Graži vieta, LT

Ventės ragas (Ventė Cape) is a peninsula on the eastern shore of the Curonian Lagoon, home since 1929 to one of the oldest still-operating bird ringing stations in Europe, founded by Tadas Ivanauskas. Located on a major bird migration route, the station rings 60,000-80,000 birds a year (up to about a hundred thousand in peak years); nearly 2.5 million birds were ringed there in total between 1929 and 2015. It houses some of the largest stationary bird traps in the world (up to 60 m wide, 25 m high), along with exhibition rooms and an observation deck for visitors.
