The Museum of Ainaži Naval School is housed in the building where the first Latvian and Estonian naval school began operating in 1864, founded by local sailors inspired by Krišjānis Valdemārs. The museum itself was officially established in 1968. Its most valuable holdings include maps of Ainaži, naval students' diplomas and study notes, books, photographs and navigation instruments documenting the school's operation and sailing-ship construction on the Vidzeme coast from the early 19th to early 20th century.
