Bruknas manor

Graži vieta, Zemgale

Standing on the bank of the Iecava River in Dāviņi parish, Bauska municipality, the manor was built in the third quarter of the 18th century for the Baltic German von Korff family and rebuilt in neoclassical style in the following century. Original details survive inside, including wooden trim, window-sill locks, and brass door fittings inlaid with oak, alongside an authentic spiral wooden staircase to the upper floor. After Latvia's 1920 land reform ended the Korffs' ownership, the building served as a school until 1966 and later as housing, before the Kalna Svētību kopiena (Mountain Blessing Community) took it over in 2001 and restored it, including a rare Renaissance-style kitchen garden of vegetables and herbs grown in low box-hedged beds rather than flowers. The community now uses the grounds for summer camps, concerts, and art events.
