Butautų dvaras

Graži vieta, Panevėžio apskritis

Founded in 1750 by the Tarnowski family, this manor in Biržai District Municipality sits about 13 kilometers from Biržai town and just 1.5 kilometers from the Latvian border. In the early 19th century, new owner Jonas Kraft, of German descent, turned its brewery from a household operation into a commercial one, and his son Leonas Kraft later sold the beer to merchants in Riga and Vilnius. The surviving red brick buildings date mostly from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and today the estate operates as a heritage site with a small museum of historic brewing equipment.
