Varkaļi functions as a riverside campsite on the Venta river in Nīkrāce parish, within the Ventas un Šķērveļa ieleja nature reserve. It lies about a kilometre downstream from the Ātraiskalns viewpoint and serves as a base for paddlers and hikers exploring the sandstone outcrops and cliffs along this stretch of the Venta, including the nearby Ātrās klintis. Visitors can park here for a small fee before continuing on foot or by boat to see the river’s geological formations.
