Overlooking the Latava river valley near the village of Palatavys, this nearly circular hillfort platform spans 30 to 33 meters across with slopes rising up to 15 meters and a crescent-shaped rampart on its northwestern edge. Archaeologists discovered the site only in 1997, later uncovering burnt stones, pottery and metal fragments dating it to the 13th or 14th century. Historians link it to Grand Duke Mindaugas’s stronghold of Latava, mentioned in two donation charters he issued in 1253 and 1260, making this one of the candidate sites for his 1253 coronation.
