Kärdla Hausma ujumiskoht

Maudykla, Hiiumaa

This unguarded swimming spot lies about 200 m from Kärdla's marina in Hiiu county, on a site with roots in the town's 19th-century broadcloth-factory harbor, built in 1849 and destroyed during World War II before the modern marina opened in 2014. Today the beach has a swimming platform and a nearby outdoor gym, but no lifeguard, so swimmers use it at their own risk. Just south of the beach, between the gym and a strip of forest, a protected habitat supports six orchid species, including the fly orchid, military orchid and Baltic marsh orchid. Morning swims are popular here, with dozens of regulars in the water even on cool mornings.
