Vieta, Kurzeme
Ravines and steep forested slopes in the Western Kurzeme Uplands have been under protection here since 1977, with the 481-hectare park centered on an ancient valley cut by the Lanka stream in Embūte parish, Dienvidkurzeme Municipality. Hills such as Pavārkalni, Vērekalni, Radiņkalni and the Embūte hillfort ring the valley, where a marked nature trail passes mineral-rich springs, stairways, and a viewing tower. The park holds seven specially protected plant and animal species and nine protected bird species, including one of only two known Latvian populations of the European fen orchid.
