Viljandi maastikukaitseala is a 366.8-hectare landscape protection area in Viljandi County, made up of 210.9 hectares of land and 155.9 hectares of water. It was established in 1997, building on the Loodi nature park that had protected part of the same area since 1964. Its core is the Tänassilma-Viljandi-Raudna ravine and Viljandi Lake, and it also includes the Viljandi Castle Hill outcrop, the Sammuli boulder, the Valuoja and Uueveski streams, and the Raudna River. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network as the Viljandi nature site, protecting habitat for otter and spined loach.
