Locals have long called this green space in the town centre "miesto sodas," the city garden, and it remains Virbalis’s only undeveloped town block. When the settlement was laid out under its 1593 Magdeburg city rights, the first parish church stood on this plot, encircled by Catholic cemeteries that were later cleared into open parkland. Today it serves as the town’s central park, a quiet green pocket inside the historic 16th-century street grid.
