Graži vieta, Kurzeme
Built in the 18th and 19th centuries for the von Behr family, who held the Zlēkas estate from 1561 to 1920, this manor complex once arranged a main house, administrator’s residence, stables, storage buildings, a theatre building and a carriage house around a courtyard beside a large irregular pond. Partially burned near the end of the Second World War in 1945, the buildings were never rebuilt and today survive only as ruins. The surrounding park, planted with varied tree and shrub species around the pond, remains open to the public and continues to draw visitors as one of Ventspils Municipality’s tourist attractions.
