Krekenava is an old trading town on the Nevėžis river, known since the 15th century, when the Radvila estate's owners built a church here in 1484. This stretch of the Nevėžis is considered an attractive fishing spot, with pike-perch, dace, chub, roach, carp and spawning-run trout, as well as pike and perch.
