Riežupes ielejas skatu spot

Apžvalgos vieta, Kurzeme

A viewing tower built beside Riežupe Nature Park near Kuldīga, overlooking the river's steep, forested ravine, part of a protected valley (established 1977, 452 ha) known for sandstone exposures, small waterfalls, and rapids. The valley's main draw is the adjoining Riežupe sand caves, a roughly 350-460m hand-dug tunnel labyrinth originally excavated for white sand used in glass production, with sections open to guided tours April-October and closed in winter to let resident bats rest. The tower gives visitors an overview of this ravine landscape, one of the more distinctive geological sites in the Kurzeme region.
