Rokiškių piliakalnis

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

This isolated hillfort has an oval platform ringed on the north, east and south by a rampart, with steep slopes 7 to 8 meters high. Excavations found striated, rough and smooth pottery and slag, dating the site to the first millennium through the early second millennium. Local legend attributes the mound to French soldiers, while another tale says a pagan temple once stood here and sank into the earth.
