An 8.4-meter observation tower rises from the Vana-Pärnu coastal meadow at the point where the Pärnu River meets Pärnu Bay, reached by a roughly 500-meter trail from the nearby car park. From its platform, visitors can watch for over 100 bird species recorded here through the year, including flocks of geese and swans resting in the meadow during spring migration, while looking out over the river mouth, the bay, and the city's two historic stone piers. The surrounding coastal meadow is grazed in summer by cattle known locally as the Pärnu "sea cows", which help keep the reed growth down.
