Graži vieta, Vidzeme
Kalēja ala is a sandstone cave about 45-46 meters long and up to 5.5 meters wide, cut into the right bank of the Strīķupe (Vaidava) river a few meters above where it meets the Gauja, in Pārgauja municipality's Raiskuma parish. It has been a protected geological and geomorphological monument since 1974 and also qualifies as an EU-protected biotope, and the cave serves as a bat hibernation site. Local legend links it to a blacksmith and treasure hidden in the river opposite, guarded by a hissing serpent.
