This swimming beach sits on Karksi järv (also called Nuia järv or Karksi paisjärv), a dammed lake on the Valuoja river in the town of Karksi-Nuia. The lake covers 22.7 hectares with an average depth of 3.6 meters and a maximum depth of 5.5 meters, and its shore has designated areas set up for swimming and rest, plus a marked path for ice skating in winter. It is a freshwater reservoir beach, not a coastal one.
