Maironių koplytėlė

Graži vieta, Šiaulių apskritis

In the scenic Dubysa valley 2 kilometers from Maironiai church along the Kelmė-Tytuvėnai road, local tradition says a resident named Žilinskas discovered a large stone marked with what looked like a child's footprint, a staff and hoofprints about 163 years ago, and built this small, 1.5 meter chapel with a statue of the Virgin Mary after reporting a vision. The chapel holds an altar with the statue alongside the marked stone, and a healing spring flows nearby into the Dubysa River. The statue has been stolen and replaced four times, the current one being the fifth.
