S. Daukanto klėtelė (muziejus)

Graži vieta, Klaipėdos apskritis

This memorial museum in Kalviai occupies a granary in the traditional western Žemaitija style, with distinctive wooden columns, originally standing on the family homestead of Simonas Daukantas (born October 28, 1793), a pioneering Lithuanian historian, educator and folklore collector who wrote the first history of Lithuania in the Lithuanian language. Its exhibits cover his life and work, regional ethnographic artifacts, and the legacy of his friend Jurgis Pabrėža, Lithuania's first botanist. Visits require advance arrangement through the Lenkimai eldership office.
