Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

This site in Žieveliškės village marks the 1849 birthplace of Mečislovas Davainis-Silvestraitis, a folklorist, poet and journalist who co-authored the banned Lithuanian newspaper "Aušra" and encouraged the nobility to support the Lithuanian national movement and speak Lithuanian at home. He collected around 1,000 folk songs and 700 folk tales before his death in 1919; he is buried at Vilnius's Rasos Cemetery.
