Local records place a named spring, Oliņu avots, within Plāņi Parish along the Valka to Valmiera road, marked by a sign roughly half a kilometer off the main route toward Oliņi. Its surroundings were landscaped and improved in 2011, and for years residents of Strenči, Valka, and Valmiera drew drinking water from it. Valmiera municipality later tested it as part of a monitoring program covering several unofficial water sources in the area and found the raw water does not meet drinking water safety standards, with coliform bacteria detected. Visitors can still reach the site by the roadside path, though the water should be treated or boiled before drinking.
