Maudykla, Laanemaa
Österby beach lies along the harbor and breakwater of Österby village in Lääne-Nigula Parish, on the Baltic coast facing Haapsalu across the strait. The site is registered with Estonia's Health Board as an official bathing water location, so its water quality is monitored each season under EU bathing directive standards. Locals and visitors use the sheltered bay for swimming, and the open coastline nearby also draws windsurfers and kitesurfers when conditions allow. There is no lifeguard on duty, so swimmers are on their own for safety.
