The area of wetlands and meadows in Šilalė district is protected by the European ecological network "Natura 2000", designed to protect rare bird and plant habitats. There are no established recreational trails here, but the place is highly valued by professional ornithologists for the opportunity to observe grebes, predatory woodpeckers and other rare songbirds in their natural environment in spring.
