What Wildero is, why we built a map of verified outdoor recreation spots across the Baltics, and how we check every place before it is listed.
Wildero is an independent project bringing together outdoor activity spots in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, hiking trails, campsites, campfire spots, beaches, fishing spots and more, on one map. The idea came from a simple problem: the same information today is scattered across dozens of separate sources, which makes planning a cross-border trip a matter of juggling a dozen open tabs.
Locations are imported from public sources: recreation registries from state forest agencies (VMU in Lithuania, RMK in Estonia, LVM in Latvia), OpenStreetMap, and official fishing registries (ALIS, UETK). Where known, each location card shows when it was last updated and its source.
Wildero is currently in beta testing. The database is large (14,000+ locations), and reality in a forest or by a lake changes faster than any map can keep up with, a trail can overgrow, a campfire spot can fall into disrepair, access can change. Before heading to a more remote or less-documented location, we always recommend checking the latest information from an official source.
Every location card has a button to report an error, a wrong photo, or a changed condition. New locations can be suggested via the "Suggest a place" button on the site.
